Casey Armour led four Eagles in double figures with 14 points and Ellison improved to 6-0 with a 76-48 victory Tuesday at Austin Akins.

Laurence Bryant added 13 points for the Eagles. K.J. Green had 11 and Avante Bell finished with 10.

Ellison led 18-8 after the opening period and continued pulling away.

LAMPASAS 68, GATESVILLE 58: At Gatesville, Lampasas starters Kyle Sims, Austin Martin and Xavier Nix all fouled out early in the fourth quarter, but the Badgers were able to hang on for their fifth straight win in a chippy, physical contest.

Despite leaving early, Sims (14 points), Martin (11) and Nix (11) were the top scorers for Lampasas (5-1).

Phillip Blackstock also scored in double figures for the Badgers with 10 points.

Gatesville had two players foul out in a game where 53 fouls were called and shoving matches broke out.

The Badgers begin play in the Salado tournament on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. against Class 2A No. 2 Thorndale.

FLORENCE 67, BRUCEVILLE-EDDY 38: At Bruceville-Eddy, Matt Edgar had 20 points and nine rebounds as the Buffaloes rolled to a victory in their season opener.

Edgar had four of Florence’s nine 3-pointers.

CJ Giddens added 17 points. Justin Trussell finished with nine.

Jacob Trussell led Florence with 10 rebounds.

Basketball season got off to a late start for the Buffaloes following their second straight trip to the football playoffs.

SALADO 66, ROGERS 33: At Salado, Jake Pittman made three 3-pointers and led the Salado Eagles with 16 points in the victory.

Shane Roche added 12 points for Salado, Jeremy Jarvis had 11, and Reece Brown 10.

Salado trailed 16-10 after the first quarter, but scored 19 of the next 20 points to end the half with a 29-17 lead. Salado continued pouring it on in the second half, outscoring Bruceville-Eddy 37-16.

GIRLS

SALADO 65, HOLLAND 59: At Holland, Kaia Philen scored 20 points and the Salado girls basketball team rallied from a double-digit halftime deficit for a road win.

Lexie Lima added 15 points, and Kayla Manning had 13 to go with nine boards.

The Lady Eagles trailed 39-26 at halftime but surged in front with an 18-4 third quarter.

Philen and Lima each had three of Salado’s seven 3-pointers.

Salado made up for a dismal performance at the foul line (14-of-34) by forcing 32 turnovers and turning them into 20 points. The Lady Eagles also shot better. The Lady Hornets missed 15 of their 17 3-point tries.

The teams combined for 52 fouls.
