The No. 12-ranked Shoemaker Grey Wolves took third place in the Cypress Hoops Invitational on Saturday.

In the morning, the Wolves were defeated by Spring Dekaney 49-43.

In the afternoon, Shoemaker (14-1) defeated rival Harker Heights 61-31. Against Heights, Devyn Brewton and Antoine James each scored 10 points, Tyrone Williams scored seven points and Vernon Burns and Tyale Johnson scored six apiece.

“Overall, I am really proud of my kids,” said Shoemaker head coach Emund Prichett. “We played five games really, really hard. We did get exposed for some of the things we need to work on.”

The Wolves outscored Heights 36-11 in the second half.

ROSEBUD-LOTT 54, FLORENCE 53: The Buffaloes finished runner-up in their own tournament, the Florence Invitational.

Matthew Edgar led Florence (7-4) with 16 points. Also for Florence, Martin Quenga scored 11 points and CJ Giddens and Landon Byrne had 10 apiece.

“I’m pleased with our overall effort,” said Buffs head coach Danny Wood. “Our kids kept fighting against a very good team. Most teams have not been able to stay close to Rosebud-Lott (10-1). Our kids are growing up. We’re starting three starters and a junior and we’re getting better.”

LOMETA 75, ROBERT LEE 55: Ivan Jasso scored 24 points and the No. 24-ranked Hornets won the Lohn Invitational, routing Robert Lee in the title game.
