Matt Edgar put back a missed shot and the Florence Buffaloes held off a Granger rally to win 39-36 on Tuesday in Florence.

CJ Giddens led Florence (3-2) with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Landon Byrne added 10 points. Edgar finished with nine points and eight boards.

Justin Trussell also had eight rebounds.

Florence led 11-1 after the first quarter, but Granger (3-4) rallied to tie the game at 36.

Leading 37-36, the Buffaloes missed a free-throw in the final seconds. Giddens grabbed the offensive rebound and missed, but Edgar’s follow sealed the victory.

Florence hosts a tournament, beginning Thursday, and will play Rogers or Thrall at 6:15 p.m.

SALADO 60, HOLLAND 44: At Salado, Anthony Young scored 14 points, Jeremy Jarvis added 13 and the Eagles pulled away in the second half for a home victory.

Salado led 27-26 at halftime, but outscored the Hornets 13-4 in the third quarter to take command.

W.P. Roche also finished in double figures for Salado with 11 points.

Holland’s Luke Frei led all scorers with 17.

MARBLE FALLS 53, LAMPASAS 45: The Badgers erased an 11-point first-half deficit, but couldn’t sustain the momentum and lost on the road.

Austin Martin led Lampasas (8-4) with 12 points. Xavier Nix added 11.

After trailing by double digits in the first half, the Badgers took a two-point lead in the third quarter.

But the Mustangs (6-2) pulled away down the stretch.

“We started inconsistent on offense, and we finished inconsistent on defense,” said Lampasas coach Aaron Nuckles. “So we need to clean that up.”

The Badgers begin play Thursday in the Hamilton tournament against Dublin at 3 p.m.


CRAWFORD 45, SALADO 20: A rough shooting night for the Lady Eagles resulted in a loss at Crawford.

Salado was 8-of-55 (15 percent) from the field and the Lady Eagles missed all but one of their 27 3-point attempts.

Kayla Manning made three of Salado’s eight baskets and finished with seven points. Jasey Goings added five.

Salado was shut out in the second quarter and trailed 22-9 at halftime.
