VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Gatesville nets sweep in Hillsboro

Gracie Lee had nine kills and four aces, Madison Carpenter tallied 27 assists and the Gatesville volleyball team swept Hillsboro, 25-16, 25-14, 25-13, on the road for its 30th victory of the season.

Kate Lovejoy also had nine kills for the Hornets (30-9, 9-2 District 17-4A), who remained in second place, two games behind No. 18 Lorena. Gatesville hosts Lorena on Friday.

Sadie Swindall added seven kills for the Hornets.

Hillsboro fell to 4-6 in 17-4A play.

DISTRICT 19-4A

NO. 5. LIBERTY HILL DEF. SALADO 25-10, 25-10, 25-19: At Liberty Hill, Salado fell to 7-4 in district play, 21-15 overall. Liberty Hill is 10-0 in district.

For Salado, Kerrigan Hearne had two aces, Natalie Fort had two aces and five digs, Tori DeKay had eight kills, Katie Robinson had eight digs and six kills, Mariah Vaillancourt had two blocks and Lindy Martin nine assists.

LEANDER GLENN DEF. LAMPASAS 25-10, 25-21, 25-7: At Leander, Rylee Davis had six kills and 16 digs to lead the defeated Lady Badgers.

Tori Martinez recorded 14 assists for Lampasas. Diane Hurst added five kills. Monica Garcia had an ace.

“We kept our heads up and put together quite a few saves and rallies,” Lampasas coach Denise Ponder said.

The Lady Badgers’ home finale is Friday against Burnet.
