Marissa Gonzalez was 4 for 4 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI, Bailey Tindell tossed a one-hitter, and 13th-ranked Salado scored in all six innings of a 10-0 District 19-4A home victory over Llano on Tuesday.
Tindell struck out five and walked one.
Piper Randolph, Breigh Oliver and Christin Wilson each had two hits for Salado. Abbie James socked a solo home run.
Keighlei Kirkland had Llano’s lone hit.
LAMPASAS 11, TAYLOR 7: At Taylor, Sloane Johnson drove in three runs, Kloe Corbin hit a solo homer, and the Lady Badgers held on for a 19-4A victory on the road.
Lampasas scored three times in the top of the first and led 5-0 in the fifth before the Lady Ducks capitalized on errors to to pull within 5-3 in the bottom of the frame.
The Lady Badgers answered with a six-run sixth, but Taylor got four of them back in its half of the sixth.
“It is safe to say that all of us were a little nervous, and that played a huge role in our errors tonight,” LHS coach Drew Cleavinger said. “Although it wasn’t the prettiest game we have played, it was a win nonetheless, and a hard-earned one.”
Kamri Corbin had two RBIs for Lampasas.
KILLEEN 1, ELLISON 0: At Leo Buckley Stadium, Alyssa Cabading scored at 37:55 of the second half and the Lady Roos landed a damaging blow to Ellison’s playoff hopes.
Ellison (4-8-1 8-6A, 13 points) trails Harker Heights and Copperas Cove by two points in the standings heading into Tuesday’s season finale against perennial power Belton.
Teirra Norman assisted on the winning goal. Soraya Fong made eight saves in goal for the shutout.
Jalyn Davis, Amira Lambertis, Reyna Ibarra and Leanna Johnson were other defensive standout for Killeen (2-10-1). Lauren Din, Laniya Grayson and Megan Woodward had great midfield games.
