The Waco Lions scored the game's first 21 points, returned two interceptions for touchdowns and rolled to a 52-20 win over visiting Killeen on Friday at Waco ISD Stadium.
After taking a 14-0 first-quarter lead on Jaylen Harris' 19-yard touchdown run, the Lions' Michael Howard recovered a fumbled kickoff at the Roos 19.
Two plays later, Harris scored again from the 18 and Waco led 21-0.
The Roos (0-2) answered with a 60-yard drive for their first points of the game. Demariontae Moore capped the drive with a 6-yard run to pull Killeen within 21-7.
In the second half, Waco took a 38-7 lead when D.J. Mangum interecepted a screen pass for a 47-yard score.
The Roos answered with D.J. Dormeus' 77-yard touchdown catch.
Killeen scored its final points when aLions' punt snap went awry early in the fourth quarter and the Roos returned the loose ball for a touchdown. Killeen missed the extra point and trailed 45-20.
Steven Johnson ran in a 20-yard interception return with 2:31 remaining to cap the scoring.
Waco used a fake-punt pass to gain 30 yards and keep its second touchdown drive alive.
LaDon King opened the scoring for Waco with a 19-yard run at the 8:22 mark of the first period.
Terrance Hamilton scored on a 40-yard run to put Waco up 28-7.
