MEXIA — Jake Harvey carried nine times for 248 yards and three touchdowns, and caught a 32-yard touchdown pass Friday as Salado steamrolled Mexia 46-8.
Harvey scored on runs of 45, 50 and 50 yards.
The Eagles (5-3, 2-1 9-4A, Div. II) scored the last 40 points of the game after the Blackcats (2-6, 0-3) grabbed an 8-6 lead in the first quarter.
Harvey’s first 50-yard TD run in the second quarter gave Salado the lead for good.
Trey Sheppard (14-86 rushing) added two 9-yard TD runs for Salado. Aaron Torczysnki carried 10 times for 89 yards.
Overall, Salado rushed 40 times for 541 yards.
The Salado defense held Mexia to 295 yards.
The Eagles travel to Robinson on Friday.
Katie Robinson had 13 kills, 10 digs and five aces to lead the Salado volleyball team to a 25-19, 23-25, 25-10, 25-19 home win over Taylor in the Lady Eagles’ season finale.
Tori DeKay had 15 kills for playoff-bound Salado (22-15, 8-4 19-4A), which has a bye on the final night of the season. Mariah Vaillancourt had seven blocks. Lindy Martin tallied 19 assists, and Brettney Fuller had 18. Mikaela Heiner had 11 digs.
