Former Shoemaker star Roberto Delgado was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 28th round of the Major League Baseball draft Wednesday.
Delgado, a 6-foot-5-inch junior at Oklahoma City University, just completed his junior season. He made 14 starts in 2017 and was 10-2 with a 3.49 ERA. Delgado held opponents to a .202 batting average with 97 strikeouts in 80 innings pitched.
Delgado registered double-digit strikeouts in three games while tallying a season high of 12.
As a senior at Shoemaker in 2014, Delgado was named to the 8-5A All-District Second Team, and he was also a league first-teamer in 2013 as a junior for the Grey Wolves.
Delgado was taken with the 834th pick in the draft.
