At Lampasas, atter defeating Copperas Cove once already, Lampasas repeated the feat, easily upsetting the larger program 16-3.
“(That is) our largest (margin of victory) so far,” Lampasas head coach Kenneth Peiser said. “Hopefully, we can keep building off of this win and playing smart.
“We had a few close matches that the kids were able to hold on and take the win in the third set.”
The Badgers and Lady Badgers, who defeated Copperas Cove 11-8 nearly a month ago, won six of seven doubles’ matches to construct an early lead.
Then Marcus Morua, Shrader Davis, Tristan Myrick, Tyler Connell and Brian Collier each won in singles to add to the cushion. The Lady Badgers won all but one of their singles matches.
The victory improves Lampasas’ record to 5-2.
Lampasas faces Belton — a team Peiser has not beaten in 14 years as coach — on Friday before opening District 8-3A play Saturday morning at home against Burnet.
