The Riders finished the third quarter on a 9-0 run to build a seven-point lead going into the fourth and then held on to hand the Lady Roos their third straight loss.
Melody Williams led THESA (Texas Home Educators Sports Association) with 14 points and Jesse Ramos added 13 for the 18-2 team that is the six-time defending National Christian Homeschool girls basketball champion.
Jasmine Goodwine and Johlicia Williams each scored 10 to lead the Lady Roos (5-3), who have lost three straight since their 5-0 start.
Killeen trailed by as many as six in the fourth quarter, but Esha Atkins’ 3 with 2:41 left cut the lead to 39-37. Following a Riders turnover, Karyea Oliver missed the front end of a 1-and-1 free-throw opportunity and Ramos went coast-to-coast and scored on an uncontested layup with 1:34 left. Atkins answered with two free throws for Killeen, but the Lady Roos missed their final two shots as the Riders hit 2-of-5 from the line to pull just enough out of reach.
