Malaika Randolph didn’t have any plans to continue her volleyball career before her club coach posted two videos of her in late April.

A week later, her life was changed.

Randolph will get her chance to play at the next level when she plays for Dodge City (Kan.) Community College this fall.

When her club coach put the videos up, Randolph wasn’t expecting any swift or large response to it.

“I thought I might get a couple of messages from people who were kind of interested in me,” Randolph said. “But (the coach), up front, was like, ‘I’m giving you a scholarship.’”

Randolph said that, even today, she can’t believe that she’ll be playing volleyball at the next level.

She has been surprised from the jump.

“I was just really shocked,” Randolph said.

“The call was really out of the blue.”

Randolph has yet to visit the campus but will get her first taste when she reports June 31.

And Randolph can’t wait to get there.

“I’m hyped,” she said. “I’m really excited.”

Randolph began playing volleyball in the fourth grade.

But after one life-changing phone call, she is thrilled to be able to continue playing at the next level.

“I just feel so blessed,” Randolph said. “I wake up everyday (and) I’m like, ‘wow.’

“I’m just blessed.”
