There are rumors — but only rumors — that not every Cove fan will be able to see Saturday’s game, which will be held at the Round Rock Independent School District Athletic Complex.

While the stadium lists only 11,000 seats, a number confirmed by the ticket office, more can fit in without resorting to standing-room-only zones. Jim Loerwald, Round Rock ISD athletic director, said he’s never turned people away on a game day.

“And we don’t anticipate doing it this year,” he added.

With more than 900 tickets sold by Tuesday on the home side of the field, which will hold Cove Bulldawg fans, the Copperas Cove High School athletic office has put out fliers saying the stadium holds more than 11,000 fans.

It does, Loerwald said.

“We’ve put 15,000 people in here before,” he said, noting that both 4A and 5A state championship games have been played at the stadium without seating problems in past years.

“I would anticipate there being enough seats,” Copperas Cove head coach Jack Welch said. “They have assured us no one will be turned away from the stadium.”
