I agree. Worst job of coaching ever. The kids on the Heights team deserved so much better.

Nurse: so let me "encourage you" to read the rules of conduct. Capitalizing every word doesn't make you right. It just tells people you refuse to follow accepted rules for decurom.
Much like Mr. Welch refusal to abide by genrally accepted rules of good sportsmanship. Throwing for a meaningless TD against a beaten opponent made up of 16-17 and 18 year-old boys is the real act of classlessness here. Not me calling the Cove out on it.
If KDH had any sort of a spine or reporting integrity, they would call Welch out on it too.
But trust me, karma is coming right back at Cove this week. DeSoto is going to light the Dawgs' Ole defense up like a Christmas tree.

If you think you can coach better then why are you not on that field helping them boys, I will tell you why? Because you can't. GO GET A TEACHING AND COACHING DEGREE, EXPERIENCE AND THEN TALK. OTHERWISE KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT!!!!!!!

WELL THE GAME IS OVER AND COPPERAS COVE IS CREDITED WITH THE WIN.--HARKER HIGHTS BEAT THEMSELVES.ON THE FIRST DRIVE HIGHTS DEFENSE STOPPED COVES RUNNING GAME. THAN A FAKE PUNT GAVE THEM A FIRST DOWN.--THAN THE DEFENCE STOPPED THEM AGAIN. ----AND THE FORMER DEFENSIVE COACH NOW OUR HEAD COACH WATCHED AS COVE DID IT AGAIN,ANOTHER FIRST DOWN AND LED TO COVES FIRST TOUCHDOWN ---.GOING OUTSIDE OUR OWN (KISD COACHES FROM FORE SCHOOLS) WAS A STUPID MOVE. EDWARDS SHOULD BE LET GO .IF YOU CANT FIND A COACH WITHIN OUR OWN DISTRICT THAT COULD BE PROMOTED THAN WE NEED TO GET RID OF ALL THE ASSISTANT COACHES.

UNDERSTANDING NOW THAT A HURRY UP SPREAD OFFENSE IS VERY NECESSARY!! 40 points will be the standard next year. Run the no huddle during non district games to start the season so kids are prepared during district play to use it as needed. This will put you at an advantage the first district game, they will not have seen our traditional offense, 1-0 to start the season. College and pro teams run 4-3 defense because they have athletes that can bring pressure up the middle and on the ends. In high school you are lucky to have one that can pressure the QB, so you run a 3-4, gap filling linemen and a every down blitzing LB from either side, he will run into something, QB, RB and at least disrupt the play. He will pressure the QB, block the screen from his side and trail all plays going away, disrupt motion handoffs and hit the QB on read options. LB are at the top of the sack list for teams who have to run a 3-4.

Worst coaching at any level, so unfair to the kids. The excuse is adjusting to a new system. Special teams on kick off and kickoff return, worst in the district. Calling time outs on defense and at non critical times of the game, leaving no time outs when desperately needed end game situations, worst in district. Running up the middle to the strength of every defense on critical 3rd downs and wasting 1-2 downs doing the same, horrible. Inexcusable lack of a hurry-up offense, which would have salvaged at least 2 horribly coached game, giving the impression to the kids and the whole crowd of giving up, this guys is inexcusable!!! The coaching staff has great guys and an asset to the community, however, the worst coaching display at any level that has ever been seen. You all should be moved to other sports and teaching only, you don't know football. There is a bright spot however. The seniors won't have to endure the abomination next year! Thank you for all that you do for the kids off the football field.

Make any excuse you want. But the fact remains he was wrong.
Cove had just picked up a first down on three very well executed runs.
The clock was running down. Even after throwing deep and getting set up first and goal, Welch still threw for the TD.
The smart play at midfield and on first and goal was to run the ball.
Three runs at a minimum run 1:15 off the clock. More like 2 minutes the way officials lazily spot the ball.
Last TD completely unnecessary. Heights coaching staff had already given up after missed onside kick.
Staff was breaking down trainers table and packing balls away.
Up 15 no need to throw for score. Arrogance on Welch's part.

I'm sure DeSoto will demolish Cove. Cove's defense is not at all good this year; probably the worst defense in the past 15 years.
However, you need to realize it ain't over til it's over. You saw how fast Heights scored near the end of the first half. If Cove doesn't pick up a first down or score, Heights could easily have put up 6 or 7, then an on-sides kick and they could score again.
Not everyone in Cove thinks Welch is a god as some do, but in this case I think he was correct.

Jack Welch is a jerk and classless wonder.
He's quoted as saying he wanted to run the ball more, but with less than 5 minutes left in the game and at midfield, instead of running the clock out, he threw the ball three times including a gutless deep pass that served no purpose other than to humiliate the Harker Heights kids.
No worries though. What goes around comes around.
DeSoto will light up Welch's Ole Defense for 60 points easy.
If CCISD had any integrity at all they would apology for Welch's action.
It's one thing to win a hard fought game (which they did), it's another to be rude and classless about it.
    Typical Cove.
