Killeen police are investigating an early morning homicide in the 1100 block of Royal Crest Drive.

Officers responded to a 911 call at 2:26am in reference to shots fired.  Officers located a 31-year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to police.

He was immediately transported to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center where he was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke at 4:45am.

An autopsy has been ordered to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

The preliminary investigation revealed the victim and another male were inside the residence when the female who was upstairs heard shots fired.  She came down to find the victim, her boyfriend, suffering from gunshot wounds and the other male gone from the residence.

The name of the victim has been withheld pending the notification of his next of kin.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about this homicide to contact the Bell County Crime Stoppers at 526-TIPS (8477) or go online at www.bellcountycrimestoppers.com or text BELLCO along with your tip to 274637.
