Join Killeen High School art students today for an evening appreciating the finer things in life.
From 5 to 7 p.m., enjoy refreshments and admire the works of all levels of art classes at Killeen High, including Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate Art, at the annual KHS art show in the school’s auditorium lobby.
More than 100 art pieces, ranging from ceramics and drawings to paintings and photography, will be on display.
“We have extremely talented art students here at Killeen. What’s awesome to experience is most of the kiddos who start out are only taking the course to fill their fine art credit,” said Ashley Brinker, Killeen High School art teacher. “Then you see this beautiful transformation … those students are now confident, creative and sure of what they are doing and enjoy doing it.”
Judges from the department will award two students on-site for their work.
“The art department will be looking at the creativity level, technical skill, as well as the effort put into the artwork,” Brinker said.
In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to vote on two of their favorite works, and students with top-pick pieces will be give awards at the end of the evening.
Spanish teacher Inocencio Lugo will entertain attendees with his guitar skills, along with a performance by the Killeen High School choir.
Brinker hopes the show will see more than 100 attendees to celebrate the hard work of the school’s art department this past year.
