Interested in theatrical opportunities? Cast and crew are sought by two area nonprofit theater groups, and auditions start today.

“I Do! I Do!” at Temple Civic Theatre needs one man and one woman, “ranging in age from 30 to 50.” Auditions are at 7 p.m. today and Monday. Callbacks will be at 7 p.m. Feb. 16.

Written by the authors of “The Fantasticks,” the musical chronicles the lives of one couple through 40 years of marriage. The big song from the show is “My Cup Runneth Over” and the production will be directed by New York-based guest director Brenna Sage.

Actors will be asked to prepare a song of their choice and to read from the play’s script. An accompanist will be present, and auditions will be videotaped for Sage, who is scheduled to arrive in Temple next month.

Performances are April 4-6 and April 10-13 and specific information concerning rehearsal schedules will be addressed at the auditions.

Tap into your inner R&B soul and audition for Vive Les Arts Theatre in Killeen. “Legends: Motown,” the nonprofit’s annual fundraiser, seeks singers with that signature old-school sound for auditions from 7 to 10 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.

Auditionees are asked to prepare “16 bars (measures) of any Motown song(s) of your choice.” People can bring recorded accompaniment or sheet music, and the VLA website stresses “the music director will only accept Motown songs for this audition.”

“Legends: Motown” plays April 12 for one night only.

Cast and crew at both theaters are volunteers and receive no monetary compensation for rehearsals or performances.
