Bicyclers and wine enthusiasts are welcome at The Vineyard at Florence on Saturday for the sixth annual Tour de Vineyard bicycle race and the vineyard’s first Texas Wine Festival.

The bike race begins at 8 a.m. at the vineyard’s main facility and lasts until the final rider finishes, said Dana Jacobs, vineyard representative.

“Anyone is invited to join but they must bring their own bikes,” she said, adding that past races have drawn about 300 riders.

Riders can choose the route they want to take from 15 to 65 miles of trails through Williamson County. The registration fee is $45 and includes lunch and T-shirts for riders who register early. All proceeds from the ride go to the Florence Parks and Recreation Department.

Sponsors include the Florence Chamber of Commerce, Union State Bank of Florence and a host of other local businesses.

The Texas Wine Festival, from noon to 4 p.m., features products from wineries across Texas. As of Thursday, more than 100 vineyards were registered to participate, Jacobs said.

For $15, guests get 12 wine tastings while serenaded by live music by Walker Lukens of The Side Arms and Flamenco Symphony. Tickets can be purchased in person or online at

The Vineyard at Florence is at 111 Via Francesco. For more information, call (254) 793-3363.
