BELTON — My Giving Tree Art Gallery and Nolan Creek Winery are teaming up to host the city’s first Art & Wine on the Square festival from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Bell County Courthouse Square downtown.

Texas wineries featured at the festival are Nolan Creek, Salado Creek, Dancing Bee, Georgetown, Pilot Knob and Salado Wine Cellars.

“I would like to create an awareness of Texas wines and a synergy between the Central Texas wineries,” said Nolan Creek Winery owner Vira Chudasma. “Belton is a great central location for all of them to meet.”

Leila Valchar, owner of My Giving Tree Art Gallery, is hosting the event to showcase Central Texas talent. Featured artists will be Texas native Al Moore, 85, best known as the “Painter of Quiet Places”; former Walt Disney artist Daniel Adams of Burnet; Joe Friddle of the Texas Wild Bunch artists; Bell Fine Arts; and 15 members of the Salado Village Artists group.

A silent auction and raffle with several pieces donated by the artists will be held during the show. All proceeds will benefit the Aware Central Texas child abuse prevention center.

Valchar donates proceeds from her gallery to local charities.

“That’s why I named my shop The Giving Tree because I’m so supportive, and it’s based on the book ‘The Giving Tree,’” she said. “God has blessed me and it’s my way of doing something for others.”

Musical entertainment will be provided by Ronnie Caywood on acoustic guitar.

The art show is free. Wine-tasting tickets are $10 and include five tastes and a commemorative wine glass. Tickets can be purchased at www.localwineevents.com or at Nolan Creek Winery, 219 S. East St., Belton.

The Bell County Courthouse is at 101 W. Central Ave., Belton. For more information, call My Giving Tree at (254) 939-8733 or Nolan Creek Winery at (254) 613-4475.
