What started as an anniversary celebration for Central Texas College’s Nursing Department transformed into an event that’s brought in thousands of dollars to help students fulfill their goals.
On April 11, the CTC Foundation and Metroplex Health System will host its sixth annual spring fashion show and luncheon to benefit the college’s nursing scholarship program. Doors to the event at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center open at 11 a.m., with a catered lunch by Great Western Dining at 11:30 a.m., followed by the fashion show. Tickets are $50 per person.
Judy Heartfield, CTC Foundation director, said many people who attend the show end up donating to the nursing scholarship program.
“We’ve gotten community support,” she said. “It’s been a great success.”
This year, the event will feature a celebrity guest appearance by singer Holly Tucker, who was a finalist on season four of “The Voice.”
Tucker will open with the national anthem and perform several songs, including “How Great Thou Art.”
“I can’t tell you how excited we are about her because she is very much high integrity,” Heartfield said. “She’s got her life together. She’s getting more and more famous as time goes on so I don’t know if we’ll get her again.”
In addition to viewing fashion from the Garden Room boutique in Austin, guests will have the chance to win door prizes, including a Louis Vuitton purse, valued at $800, a $500 gift certificate to the Tory Burch store, a $500 gift certificate to the Kate Spade store, two Coach purses and a hanging makeup bag.
