Star Group-Veterans Helping Veterans will host a “Gospel Explosion” fundraiser Saturday to raise money to provide 350 Thanksgiving baskets to families in the Killeen area.

Jonathan Haywood, an organizer of the event, said it gives the organization the ability to provide a Thanksgiving meal with turkey and all the trimmings to families in need.

“It’s a really great event and it’s for a great cause,” he said.

The show is from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Killeen Arts & Activities Center, 801 Fourth St.

Performances include the Comanche Chapel Gospel Choir, Comanche Chapel Brotherhood Choir, Soldier Choir, Voices of Hope-New Hope Worship Anointed Praised, M.A.J.estic Sisters of Praise, Gospel Traveler and the Albert Reed Gospel Ensemble.

Haywood said special guests for the event are Thomas Bryant, Toschia Moffett Young and Renatta P. Hankins.

Tickets can be purchased in advance for $10 by contacting Haywood at 254-681-8029 or Stanley Davis at 254-371-3539. They can also be purchased at Hilltop Enterprise, 311 Lonely Oaks Lane, in Killeen, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today. Tickets at the door are $12.
