Sharon Bruno has worked hard to bring a different style of dancing to the Central Texas area.

The ATL Sliders group formed nearly a year ago to spread Bruno’s love of line dancing to the Killeen community. Starting with one member, the group quickly flourished to more than 25 participants.

“The group is growing and growing every week,” said Bruno, the lead dance instructor. “I welcome at least two or three new faces a week.”

The group meets Tuesday and Friday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Moss Rose Community Center and Wednesdays from 8 to 10 p.m. at the Killeen Community Center. Anyone is welcome to join the group for free.

“No matter what, we’re all just out here to have fun,” Bruno said. “We don’t criticize. Some people come into dancing with two left feet, but we’ve all been there and by the end of each class we’re all better off.

“It’s a beautiful thing to see the whole group dancing as one,” she said. “We’re just one big line dance family.”
