Ten-thousand-pound monster trucks will deliver two electrifying shows at the Killeen Rodeo Arena on Saturday as part of the Monster X Tour.
Join Monster X for two preshow pit parties — at noon or 6 p.m. These pre-events allow fans to take photos with drivers and trucks, get autographs and ride on-board the Bone Crusher. Tickets for the pit parties are sold separately from regular tickets, but are included with VIP tickets.
The two main events will begin at 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The trucks include the Rock Star, California Kid, Bucked Up, a hunting-themed truck, American Graffiti, a 1935 Chevy pickup truck and the Reverse Racer.
Together, the trucks will race, compete in obstacle courses and perform an array of tricks to dazzle the audience.
There will be at least five drivers taking the reins of these massive trucks, including longtime driver Bill Payne.
“It will be quite entertaining,” said Nikki Zimmerman, director of promotions. “It’s a good family event.”
All of the trucks are custom-built, and they’ve traveled across the world, as far as South America and Russia, she said.
Monster X was the first monster truck company to tour in Russia. This is the group’s first time in Killeen.
Up next, they will travel to Laredo on Nov. 1-2.
“Even if it rains, the show will go on,” Zimmerman said. The mud makes the event even more fun, she said. “Everyone gets dirty.”
Advance tickets can be purchased for a discount at www.monsterxtour.com or in person at Central Texas Gold Exchange, 1113 E. Central Texas Expressway in Killeen. A military discount is available with online purchases only.
Prices start at $19 for adults and $10 for children ages 3 to 12. The Saturday matinee performance offers advance child tickets for $7.50. It is not recommended to bring children younger than 3.
