Best Bets

The Central Texas Astronomical Society plans its next Bell County Star Party from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Overlook Park, near Stillhouse Hollow Lake outside Belton. The event is free and open to the public. Go to www.centexastronomy.org.

Arts & Theater

The first art exhibit of the semester is on display in the upstairs art gallery of the campus library at Central Texas College in Killeen. “Sky Boats” features the paintings of local artist Hugo Shi and will be open through Oct. 3.

The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor College of Visual and Performing Arts and the UMHB Art Department present an Alumni Exhibition featuring Katy Heinlein, class of 1995, and Michael Blair, class of 2002, through Oct. 19. The artists will be on campus at 2 p.m. Oct. 18 for a gallery talk. The exhibit and talk are free and open to the public.

“A Call To Arms” at the Visual Arts Complex Gallery at Temple College is curated by Wynona Alexander, Central Texas College art professor, and features art made in various media, that addresses the bracelet form. Wearable jewelry pieces and conceptual bracelet shapes that utilize silver, gold, copper, bronze and gemstones as well as glass ceramics, mixed media and photographs comprise the show. It’s on view until Nov. 4.

Dancing
