Tattoo fans and their families are invited to join Familia Ink Tattoo Company to spread awareness for breast cancer research Sunday afternoon in tribute to National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

In honor of shop owners Aulani and Robert Marin’s mothers and aunts, four of whom are breast cancer survivors, they will host a family-friendly fundraiser. The Marins’ mothers will both be getting tattoos to celebrate overcoming the disease and “permanently show their strength as a badge of honor,” Aulani Marin said.

This free event at the shop, 810 W. Rancier Ave., Suite 300, Killeen, will run from 2 to 6 p.m. Specials include $25 breast cancer-inspired tattoos and $10 piercings. There will be a DJ, food, bounce house, face painting, door prizes including free tattoos, and more entertainment for both children and adults, Marin said.

With all the tattoo artists donating their time, “100 percent of the proceeds from this event will go directly to Komen Central Texas,” Marin said

Susan G. Komen for the Cure is dedicated to research for curing breast cancer, as well as promoting awareness of the life-threatening disease and working toward legislative changes to increase research funding, according to its website.
