LAMPASAS — Guests of Saturday’s third annual Wine Tour can enjoy a scenic, daylong adventure featuring the wineries of Lampasas County.

Five award-winning wineries are participating this year, joined by newcomer Wedding Oak Winery in San Saba.

“We’ll start with a small reception Saturday morning at the chamber office where participants can pick up their goodie bags,” said Jill Carroll, director of the Lampasas County Chamber of Commerce, which hosts the event. “We’ll have a packed lunch for everyone, treats, bottles of water and the buses will depart after the reception.”

Other vineyard hosts include Texas Legato, Pillar Bluff, Fiesta Winery and Alamosa Winery.

Carroll said the tour grows each year.

“We had a lot of people coming into the area that wanted to visit the wineries, and the board of directors got together and decided the tour is something they would really like to highlight and create an event that focused specifically on them.”

The $45 ticket entitles holders to a wine tasting at each stop, lunch, treats, the guided tour and scenic views of the Hill Country. Winery hosts will provide tasting tips and information on the wine industry and offer exclusive specials on their wines.

Fiesta Winery owners Stephanie Baxter and Savannah Baxter McCoury expect 60 to 70 participants. The owners said guests from previous years said the fun and convenience of traveling by chartered bus makes it an event not to miss.

“The bus is a huge draw, for sure. It’s a change of atmosphere, and the tour itself is something that’s not offered all that often.”

Winery owners also said the tours allow them to visit with guests on a more intimate basis and provide a production facility tour showing guests the steps used in making the wine.

The wine tour reception begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the chamber office, 205 U.S. Highway 281, Lampasas. Buses will return by 5 p.m.
