LAMPASAS — A new crop of art will spring up Saturday in Campbell Park with the unveiling of a new selection of artwork at the Hanna Springs Art in the Park celebration.

The sculptures chosen for the 2013-2014 season include a mixture of returning and new artists from across the state. The event sponsor, Lampasas Association for the Arts, currently has 14 sculptures on display, with 12 of those in the Hanna Springs Art Garden and two at the Courthouse Annex Pocket Park.

Featured artists and their works this year are Dan Pogue of Marble Falls, who was asked to keep his sculpture, “La Fiesta,” for an encore season; Terry Jones of Jewitt, with “Music to My Ears” and “Old Glory;” Delbert Beckham of Center with “Texas-Size Vase of Flowers,” and a new artist, Julio Sanchez de Alba of El Paso, with “Free Spirit.”

The celebration is free and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The unveiling ceremony and placement of the sculptures starts at 8 a.m. Artists will be on hand to share their work and answer questions.

Other activities during the festival include live music from David Hausman, Jordan Cummings, John Groves and the Lampasas High School jazz band. A children’s area will be set up in the park with hands-on art activities and a world of bubbles.

Picnic lunches and treats will be available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting future LAFTA events.

Hanna Springs Sculpture Garden in Campbell Park is at 501 E. North Ave., two blocks from the historical downtown district in Lampasas. Call (512) 556-6997 or go to www.lafta.org.
