SALADO — Wine lovers can sample a variety of products this weekend during the fifth annual Wine and Rogue Art Festival.

“This is a collection of some of the smaller wineries in the area (and) a great way to sample wines from Killeen, Waco and Brenham without having to drive to all of those places” said June Ritterbusch, owner of Salado Wine Seller and Salado Winery Company. “A wine lover could then chose which wineries he or she wanted to visit later.”

The Texas Wine and Rogue Art Fest kicks off at noon Saturday and will last until 5 p.m. at Salado Wine Seller. It continues from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.

“I wanted to attract a different type of artist, so I named it ‘Rogue’ as in the artists are goin’ rogue,” Ritterbusch said in a news release. “I find myself drawn to contemporary artists and we regularly hold art exhibits at Salado Winery that feature a more modern style. These Texas wineries are rogue entrepreneurs as well, and I think all the wine and art folks are going to create a great experience.”

Tickets are $10 for six wine tastings and a souvenir glass. Get four more tastings for $5.

In conjunction with the wine festival, the Salado Chamber of Commerce will host the 13th annual Wildflower Art Show from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday along Salado Creek near the Stagecoach Inn. The show features dozens of fine artisans, jewelers, food and music. The Stagecoach Inn will host a street dance at 6 p.m. Saturday, featuring The Gordon Collier Band.
