Best Bets

The Jeffrey Arnold Foundation of Gatesville opens its third season of Festival Concerts beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church, 2600 E. Main St. The week-long summer series will open with a concert of music for the oboe, performed by two Coryell County natives, Cody Mendoza and Cory Snoddy. The artists will be accompanied at the piano by Jeffrey Arnold. All concerts are free and open to the public. Donations will be received at each performance benefiting the foundation’s scholarship and tuition assistance programs. A reception will be held in the church parlor following each performance. The Water Street Farmers Market in Belton is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday downtown on Water Street in front of The Gin. Local vendors will have a variety of vegetables, foods and crafts.

The Harker Heights Farmers Market is open from 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays at Seton Medical Center Harker Heights, 850 W. Central Texas Expressway.

Salado Market Days are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. the first Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the first Sunday of each month at the civic center.

Dancing

Join In the Mood for dancing at 13 S. Main St., Temple. Tonight is the Ballroom Dance from 8 to 11 p.m. for $5 a person. Come at 7 p.m. for a dance lesson, pay $8 and stay for the dance for free. The Bell County Museum has spots available for summer camps. The first E.A. Limmer Jr. Summer Camp is July 9-12 for ages 9-12. The second camp is July 23-26 for ages 6-8. The $30 camps will feature games, craft activities, snacks and lots of creative learning opportunities. Topics to be covered include the Chisholm Trail, pioneers, geocaching and exhibits in museums. The fourth annual Cen-Tex Pro Football Camp & Combine features training exercises, football drills, mentorship talks and competitions for each age group.
