BELTON — Wine lovers are invited to “uncork vino” as the Nolan Creek Winery and Wine Bar celebrates its anniversary.

From 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, enjoy wine and cocktail specials, free food and live music to celebrate a successful year in business.

“We are very excited to have survived our first year,” said co-owner Vira Chudasma. “We expected to do well, but what we didn’t expect was the warm welcome we got from the community. I see a lot of familiar faces and we all know each other by first name.”

Located next to The Gin in downtown Belton, the wine bar is the creation of Phil Monge and his wife, Chudasma.

Nolan Creek Winery offers imported and domestic wines by the bottle, glass or case in a comfortable environment complete with wide marble counter tops, leather recliners and settees, candlelit tables for two or four, soft lighting, and classic jazz and R&B on the stereo. The covered patio looks out over Nolan Creek and the historic cotton-gin-turned-restaurant next door.

The Nolan Creek Winery wine bar offers a rotating wine flight of three samplings of wine from around the world for $10 and monthly wine-tasting events.

Although Monge and Chudasma are quick to tell customers Nolan Creek Winery is a wine bar and not a winery, they do make their own wine and hope to operate a vineyard some day.

“We are looking for a good piece of land and once we find the right spot we will start planting,” she said.

At the party, the couple will unveil a new menu of sandwiches, soups and salads. They will open for lunch later this month.

“I can’t take full credit for our success. I couldn’t have done it without the support from my parents and my husband,” Chudasma said.

The wine bar, at 219 East St., Suite C, in Belton, is open from 1 to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 1 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. on Sundays. Call 254-613-4475.
