FLORENCE — Jazz enthusiasts are invited to gather at the Inwood Estates wine-tasting room Sunday for an afternoon of music.
The Cassandra Taylor Jazz Trio, based in Austin, will perform songs from their recent CD, “Life is a Cabernet,” which was recorded in the Inwood tasting room in August. Sunday’s show is from 2 to 5 p.m., with another performance scheduled for Jan. 20.
“It’s wonderful, absolutely wonderful,” said Inwood Estates proprietor Rose Mary Gatlin of the jazz trio’s music. “The woman wails. Sometimes we have people from all over the state show up.”
Since last year, the winery has hosted the Cassandra Taylor Jazz Trio in its tasting room the first and third Sunday of the month, with other live musicians performing the other Sundays, Gatlin said.
Taylor is a jazz, blues and pop vocalist “keeping the Great American Songbook alive,” according to information on her website, www.cctaylorjazz.com.
“I am passionate about the great old songs, from the jazz standards of the golden era to long cherished popular tunes,” Taylor’s website states. “The kind of music that will take you on a luxurious ride back in time to resurrect cherished memories.”
Attendance is free, Gatlin said, but children should be left at home.
“We love children, but it’s not fair to other folks that are coming to get away and relax to have little ones running around,” she said. “We prefer an adult crowd. Children may not enjoy jazz.”
The Inwood Estates tasting room holds about 30 people, and Gatlin said the number who show up for music varies.
Wine will be available during the tasting room’s regular hours, noon to 6 p.m., along with light food.
