HARKER HEIGHTS — Texas country music artist Kevin Fowler will “Deck the Dancehalls” at Wild Country on Saturday in Harker Heights, but this concert will be a bit different.

Fowler also is raising funds for Meals on Wheels.

“We were trying to do something good for the community and to give back by raising some money locally,” Fowler said by phone earlier this week. “It’s a way for us all to show some Christmas spirit by giving, because that’s what this time of year’s all about.”

The Fowler Food Drive has been part of his annual Christmas tour for seven years. This year, Fowler partnered with Meals on Wheels. For each $5 donation to the food drive, fans will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win a guitar signed by Fowler. The raffle winner will be announced Jan. 8.

All donations collected at Saturday’s concert will go to the Harker Heights chapter of Meals on Wheels. Fans can contribute online at www.kevinfowler.com/fowlerfooddrive.

Wild Country will be Fowler’s sixth stop on his annual Deck the Dancehalls tour. Wild Country Manager Dan Harper said the nightclub has hosted concerts for about 15 years, with many performed by Fowler.

“We try to keep him in our concert rotation at least once a year, because he always puts on a great show,” Harper said.

Fowler said Saturday’s concert will feature fan favorites that span his career.

“We’ll be doing the stuff from our early days and newer stuff like ‘How Country Are Ya?’ that recently went No. 1,” he said, referring to the debut single and title track from his CD set to drop March 4. “We’ll (also) be doing some fun Christmas stuff.”

Fowler said he always looks forward to his annual Wild Country stop at Christmas.

“Not only do we get to play in a good honky-tonk, but we also get to play for a lot of military people in that crowd, and it’s an honor to get to do that,” he said.

Tickets for the concert are $15, available at Wild Country, 390 W. Veterans Memorial Blvd., Harker Heights; Wet Willie’s, 400 W. Veterans Memorial Blvd., Harker Heights; and Wandering Cowboy, Killeen Mall. Doors open at 7 p.m. Call 254-699-8859.
