A new art exhibit opens Monday in the upstairs art gallery of the Central Texas College library. "Precision," a mixed media assemblage by Jeremy Newton, features a transformation of various household items such as toothbrushes, matches, pens, erasers and grocery sacks into aesthetic objects. A free meet-and-greet reception will be in the gallery from 5 to 6 p.m. April 25. Newton's work will be on display through May 3 during library hours.

Graduating seniors of the art department at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor will celebrate their academic achievements with exhibitions at the Arla Ray Tyson Art Gallery in the Townsend Memorial Library on the UMHB campus. Split into three groups, the first exhibition ends April 12. The second exhibition is April 13-27, and the third exhibition is April 30 through May 8. On April 28, the Harker Heights Ladies of Charity is hosting a "Mad Hatters Tea Party" Spring Luncheon and Style Show to benefit the Killeen Food Care Center. Events start at 11:30 a.m. at the St. Paul Chong Hasang Parish Center, 2412 Stillhouse Road, Harker Heights. There will be fashions by Dillard's of Killeen, lunch, a silent auction and door prizes. The Salado Sprint for Education 5K walk/run and Kids 1K starts at 8 a.m. Saturday at Thomas Arnold Elementary School in Salado. Proceeds benefit the Educational Sustainability Center of Salado.
