Drift Roses will be among the many plant selections at the Bell County Master Gardener Fall Plant Sale from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the Texas A&M AgriLife Center, 1605 N. Main St., Belton.

Touted as the next big thing for small gardens, Drift Roses are virtually maintenance free, repeat bloomers, tough, disease resistant and winter hardy. They have been bred as a cross between groundcover roses and miniature roses. Their USDA hardiness rating is zones 4-11.

Drift Roses generally bloom from spring to frost. Deadheading is not necessary, but will encourage new blooms and tidy up the plant.

Drift Roses are perfect for small gardens, hillsides, perennial beds and even awkward areas because of their low spreading habit. They brighten borders, fill in empty spaces, spread delicately around established plants and may be used as front edges of a perennial bed or even cascading down a garden wall. Peach, apricot, sweet, red and popcorn are varieties of Drift Roses that will be available at the Bell County Master Gardener Fall Plant Sale.
