With the official start of summer arriving soon, producers will have an excellent opportunity to manage range and pasture. Many of us utilize these hot, dry days to effectively control weeds and brush. On June 23, Texas AgriLife Extension Service, along with DuPont Crop Protection and Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, will sponsor a Pasture Weed and Brush Control Field Day in McGregor at the Texas AgriLife Research Center, 773 Ag Farm Road, McGregor - 2 miles west of State Highway 317 on Farm-to-Market 2671.
The program will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at noon, the event is free of charge. Lunch will follow the program.
Topics for the program include: brush management in pastures and rangeland, fence line brush control, brush control with individual plant treatments, weed control in pastures, weed identification and herbicide recommendations, new herbicide technology from Dupont Crop Protection and setup and calibration of pasture sprayers.
For more information or to reserve a spot, call the Bell County Extension office at (254) 933-5305. Persons requiring auxiliary aid to attend this event should notify the office no later than Friday.
