The red carpet premiere of the feature film made in Killeen and Copperas Cove, “1040 NOT SO EZ,” will be Jan. 12. Tickets are on sale.
The 6:30 p.m. showing will be at Cinergy Theater in Copperas Cove, 402 Constitution Drive. Tickets are $10.55 each and available online at cinemahillproductions.com. Seating is limited.
The movie will be released in April at select theaters.
Andre and Lucrisa Hillard, producers and owners of Cinemahill Productions, a local independent film production company, are hosting a one-night event that includes cast and crew introductions, a free gift movie soundtrack and a film poster for each attendee.
“We’re filled with so many emotions as we come together with the cast and crew to share this amazing experience,” said Lucrisa Hillard. “What we hope to achieve is for the current actors and actresses to receive recognition and add to their resumes, and let other production companies know that there is excellent talent in the Bell and Coryell county area.”
More than 30 cast members, the majority of which were novices, and seven crew members, shuttled between 15 local locations during the 12-day shoot this past summer.
The plot is about a Ponzi scheme that turns out bad as an Army sergeant and his buddies try to strike it rich by outsmarting the government, but then karma happens.
Writer-producer Andre Hillard spent three years writing the script that he based mostly on his military experience helping soldiers at an on-post tax center.
The movie production process was challenging and rewarding, said Andre Hillard.
“The takeaway allowed us to assess our ability for future productions in the area and hopefully invite other production companies to do the same,” he said.
