GATESVILLE — Coryell County youngsters finished strong in the 2013 Rabbit Extravaganza at the Gatesville Civic Center. The statewide competition drew 120 young Texans and about 400 rabbits, said Kathy Brase, superintendent of the event.

T.J. Small of Gatesville won best-in-show honors with a Satin buck. Kennedy Berry of Evant was first runner-up with a Dutch buck.

Savannah Curtis of Leon Junction showed a Holland Lop doe to win the “best opposite” competition, which recognizes rabbits of the gender opposite that of the best-in-show winner.

In addition to the traditional rabbit show competition, the Rabbit Extravaganza included several special events such as photography, graphic art and best-dressed rabbit contests.

Cooper Sutton of Coryell County won first place in graphic art, second place in handicraft art and best overall art in the junior division.

Berry also took second place in the color single photo and the color humor photo intermediate division competition.

Curtis finished third in best-dressed rabbit, junior division competition.

First-place Coryell County finishers in the Clover Kid competition were Westin Lovall, best-dressed rabbit; Elizabeth Schoenwolf, best-dressed rabbit and art; and Baylyn Roberts, best-dressed rabbit and art.
