Ladies ministry collects school supplies

Comanche Chapel Sisterhood Ladies Ministry from the Gospel Service at Fort Hood conducted a school supply drive.

School supplies were presented to East Ward Elementary School on Aug. 22.

Public invited to watch The Joshua Experience

Big-band Christian music is coming to KPLE-TV studios Sunday at 502 E. Elms Road in Killeen.

The live production of The Joshua Experience of Dallas is from noon to 5 p.m. and may be viewed on Time Warner Cable 45 or Digital 31.1

The public is invited to the studio. Seating is available. Donations are appreciated.

Greater Peace Missionary to host program Sunday

Mission I and the Brotherhood of Greater Peace Missionary Baptist Church will host a program at 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Dr. H.E. Debose is the guest speaker and Simmonsville Missionary Baptist Church family of Killeen are guests.

Families invited to parenting sessions

Young families are invited to Parenting with Play: New Possibilities at 6 p.m. Sept. 17, and Oct. 1 and 15 at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, 2800 Trimmier Road, in Killeen.

Sessions are free and led by Nyssa Hoerner, a licensed marriage and family therapist associate.

Child care is free.

A garage sale begins at 7:30 a.m. Sept. 6 at Bountiful New Life COGIC, 115 E. Avenue E, Copperas Cove.

A fish fry, $7 per plate, starts at 10 a.m.

Ladies in Prayer Station meets at 9 a.m. Sept. 6 at Holy Temple Church, 519 South Pearl St., Belton.

Holy Convocation starts Friday, ends Sept. 14

True Deliverance Ministries International will host the third annual Holy Convocation from Friday to Sept. 14. Services start at 7 p.m.

Guest speakers are Copastor Claudette Scott of Belton, Pastor Zachary Griffen of Temple, Apostle Lawrence Windom of Killeen, Apostle Shirley Rutherford of Killeen, Apostle Sadallie I. Cole of Killeen, and Bishop Bobby D. Jordan of Fayetteville, N.C.

Apostle Jimmy L. Smith of Killeen is the speaker for the 4 p.m. service Sept. 14.

Morning Glory classes begin at 10 a.m. Monday through Friday.

Pastors, ministers invited to prayer luncheon

The Killeen Christian Ministers Fellowship monthly prayer luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at East Side Baptist Church, 500 N. W.S. Young Drive.

All pastors, ministers and chaplains in the Killeen area are invited.

Senior pastors who are unable to attend are urged to send a representative.

A complimentary lunch will be provided.

The Killeen Christian Ministers Fellowship’s goal is to strengthen relationships among the spiritual leaders of the community. There are no dues or fees, and membership is open to all pastors, ministers and chaplains in the local area. The group meets on the first Tuesday of each month for fellowship and prayer.

Food giveaway set for seniors, those in need

Free food for seniors 55 and older and for those in need is available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 8 at Destiny World Outreach Center- Compassion Ministry.

Community group starts study of Luke on Sept. 8

The Temple-Belton Community Bible Study adult co-ed evening class meets from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Sept. 8 at First Baptist Church of Belton, Sixth and Main streets.

Register for the 30-week in-depth interdenominational study of Luke.

The class is open to all adults. Individuals may choose to participate in core groups for young adults: men, women or married couples.

Participants receive a reading commentary on the previous week’s topic and a set of questions to work on each day covering the next week’s reading.

Questions are discussed in small groups Monday nights. The class ends in April.

Men invited to seminar set for Sept. 19-20

A “One Thousand Men” gathering is Sept. 19-20 at First Baptist Church, which is on W.S. Young Drive in Killeen. The seminar, which covers men’s issues, starts at 7 p.m. Sept. 19 and runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 20.

All men are invited.

Belton bookstore to host book signing Sept. 9

Gary Zimmerman, a local author and retired Bell County deputy sheriff, will be at McWha Book Store to sign his book, “YOU” vs. The Devil 1.0.1 — The devil is real and at work in the world.”

The book signing is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 9 at 114 Central Ave., Belton.

Proceeds from bike ride will help the community

Bike Ride 4 Jesus starts at 7:30 a.m. Sept. 20 at the W.S. Young Drive and 28th Street bike trail.

All proceeds go to community services.
