Heights church to offer free breakfast, lunch

First Baptist Church of Harker Heights is hosting a free breakfast and lunch today at 7:30 a.m. and going through noon.

There will be breakfast burritos and brisket wraps for lunch along with entertainment and singing. The church is located at 100 E. Ruby Road.

Ladies in Prayer Station to meet today

Ladies In Prayer Station will be at the Cathedral of Deliverance and Praise Church of God In Christ at 702 Harley Drive in Harker Heights at 9 a.m. today.

Church group plans free-throw contest

St. Andrew Kim Council No. 9930 Knights of Columbus in Harker Heights is sponsoring a children free-throw championship today for kids ages 9 to 14.

The competition is at the Harker Heights Recreation Center, 307 Miller’s Crossing in Harker Heights. Registration is 12:30 to 1 p.m. and the event is 1 to 5:30 p.m.

Winners will progress through local, district and state competitions.

International champions are announced by the K of C international headquarters.

Last year, more than 120,000 sharpshooters participated in over 3,600 local competitions, Proof of age with a birth certificate and written parental consent are required.

Residents invited to pray on behalf of the unborn

Area residents are invited to attend the monthly citywide time of prayer at Hope Pregnancy Center in Killeen, next door to the former abortion clinic.

The event will take place 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, as participants petition the Lord on behalf of the unborn in the spirit of biblical unity.

HPC is in Southpointe Center, directly south of the Copper Mountain post office on W.S. Young Drive in suite 301-C.

Ministers fellowship luncheon is Tuesday

The Killeen Christian Ministers Fellowship monthly prayer luncheon will be held Tuesday, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at East Side Baptist Church, 500 N. W.S. Young Drive.

All pastors, ministers and chaplains in the Killeen area are invited. Senior pastors who are unable to attend are encouraged to send a representative.

A complimentary lunch will be provided.

The Killeen Christian Ministers Fellowship is an informal group whose goal is to strengthen relationships among the spiritual leaders of the community.

There are no dues, and membership is open to all pastors, ministers and chaplains in the local area.

The group meets on the first Tuesday of each month for fellowship and prayer.

Killeen church to offer drive-thru prayer

Excellent Covenant Powerhouse Ministries will offer drive-thru prayer in the church’s parking lot on Feb. 11, from 10 a.m. to noon.

The drive-thru prayer will offer the public an opportunity to bring prayer requests to the church’s prayer team who will greet you warmly and pray with you from the convenience of your car.

The team will offer intercessory prayer to all who drive into the lot.

Pidcoke Church group to cater Valentine’s Dinner

The Pidcoke United Methodist Church Men’s Group will cater the Valentine’s Dinner on Feb. 12 in the Fellowship Hall.

Cost is $30 per couple and is a communitywide event.

Pidcoke UMC is on Farm-to-Market North 116, halfway between Copperas Cove and Gatesville.

Church group to host Mardi Gras celebration

Knights of Columbus, Thomas P. Shields Assembly 2370 will have a Mardi Gras Dinner and Celebration at 6 p.m. Feb. 18 at the St. Paul Chong Hasang Parish Center, 2412 Stillhouse Lake Road in Harker Heights (next to the church).

The menu will have sausage and chicken gumbo, cajun baked chicken, fried catfish, etouffe sauce, 3 bean salad, cornbread mini muffins, fried okra, king cake, beer, wine, coffee, tea, and lemonade. There will be a band and dancing. There will be prizes for best costume.

Cove church group plans Polish dinner Feb. 18

Knights of Columbus is having its annual Polish dinner Feb. 18, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall on 6830 Farm-to-Market 2657 in Copperas Cove.
