Holiday meal served at Jesus Hope & Love

A Thanksgiving meal for the community will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at Jesus Hope & Love Homeless Shelter.

The shelter is at 818 N. Fourth St. behind

H-E-B in downtown Killeen.

Cooked turkeys and hams are needed for the meal. Prepare and deliver them to the shelter from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday or by 9 a.m. Thursday.

Volunteers are needed to serve the dinner to guests and to clean up afterward. Volunteers should arrive by 10 a.m.

Financial donations are also accepted. Jesus Hope & Love Mission is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. All donations are tax-deductible.

Grace United hosting Thanksgiving dinner

Everyone in the community is invited to a free traditional Thanksgiving dinner hosted by Grace United Methodist Church.

Thanksgiving dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday

The church is at 101 W. Avenue F, Copperas Cove, near the public library and the main fire station.

Bibleway COGIC serves holiday meals

Free Thanksgiving meals will be served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at Bibleway COGIC, 300 W. Jasper Road, Killeen.

All are invited to share the food and watch TV football games.

Sunset church offers Thanksgiving meal

Anyone who does not have family or friends to celebrate Thanksgiving with is invited to the fourth annual Thanksgiving Meal from noon to 3 p.m. Thursday at New Sunset Community Church, 814 W. Avenue. C, Killeen.

Fundraiser for cancer battle today

A fundraiser for Gregg Abney’s cancer surgery is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at New Sunset Community Church.

Specialty breads, peanut brittle, pies, pound cakes and cookies will be available for purchase at the fundraiser.

The public is invited.

The church is at 814 W. Avenue C, Killeen, corner of Gilmer and Avenue C.

Food, clothing giveaway today

Open Arms Outreach will have its monthly food pantry and clothes closet beginning at 9 a.m. today at the ministry’s outreach center at 409 Eighth St. in Killeen.

In addition to the free food and clothing giveaway, breakfast foods will be served at no charge.

This ministry serves the community by providing emergency food, clothing, toiletry items, and financial assistance and counseling. It also operates an adult literacy program and offers free educational tutoring for school-age children.

The free food pantry and clothes closet are part of a community outreach program held on the third Saturday of each month.

First Presbyterian planning celebration

First Presbyterian Church is having a “Thank Our Many Blessings Sunday.”

In addition to celebrating 20 years in the same location, there will be a burning of the building note fund, recognition of volunteers, dedication of stewardship pledges and a Thanksgiving potluck. Attendees are asked to bring canned goods for the Killeen Food Care Center.

Green to preach Men of Valor anniversary

Bishop Samuel Lawrence Green Sr., the 125th elected and consecrated bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, will preach the seventh anniversary of the Men of Valor men’s ministry of the Anderson Chapel A.M.E. Church at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

The Rev. Dr. William M. Campbell Jr. is the senior pastor.

Green will be invested as the president of the council of bishops of the African Methodist Episcopal Church in December. He presides over 12th Episcopal District, which encompasses Arkansas and Oklahoma.

This year, as in the past, the Men of Valor will buy/bring new clothes including coats for men as a donation to the church’s Mission House.

The 10th annual pre-Thanksgiving Revival at AGAPE COGIC begins at 7 p.m. Sunday and continues Monday and Tuesday at 7:30 nightly.

A community Thanksgiving service is at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Harker Heights United Methodist Church, corner of Cardinal Lane and Harley Drive.

The Rev. David Starkey of the First Assembly of God will deliver the sermon.

Special music will be provided by the Harker Heights Community Church.
