Church to observe National Day of Prayer
The First United Methodist Church of Killeen will celebrate National Day of Prayer at 5:30 p.m. May 4 with a short program, communion service and light meal.
The theme this year is “For Your Great Name’s Sake! Hear Us ... Forgive Us ... Heal Us! “
This is a communitywide celebration, and all are invited.

Pastors to meet about National Day of Prayer
Local pastors and ministers will get together Monday to finalize preparations for this year’s National Day of Prayer.
This will be the last planning meeting this event, which will be observed the following week, culminating in the official observance on May 4..
All churches and ministry organizations are invited to send a representative.
Monday’s meeting will be from noon to 1 p.m. at East Side Baptist Church, 500 N. W.S. Young Drive.
Attendees are asked to provide their own lunches.

The Usher Unit and Greeters of Bible Way Missionary Baptist Church will hold their annual workshop at 9:30 a.m. today.

Killeen church to host celebration of music
Join the Westside Baptist Men in a celebration of music and singing at 6 p.m. today.

Cove church to serve hot lunches today
Five Hills Assembly of God will serve hot lunches from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the Five Loaves and Two Fishes Outreach building.
Meals are provided for anyone in need, and people will receive a bag of groceries to take home.

Killeen church to offer fish fry dinner today
Praise and Deliverance House of Prayer is offering a fish fry dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today.

Mission house to sell fish dinners Friday
The Hamilton-Manjang Mission House will have their fish dinner sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.
The $10 dinner consists of fish and two sides of potato salad, green beans or pinto beans with dessert and soda. A fish sandwich with soda is $5 and extra fish is $2 each.

Gospel ensemble to host Soul Food Festival
A.J. Reed Gospel Ensemble will host its first Soul Food Festival at 10 a.m. April 29.
The meals will be served at the Tabernacle of Praise and Worship Center, 348 S. 40th St., Killeen.
For $10, there will be smothered ox-tails, smothered pork chops, fried chicken, collard greens, rice and gravy, yams, corn bread and cake.

Mission to have March for Jesus on April 29
Jesus Hope and Love Mission will have a March for Jesus on April 29 with sign-in starting at 9:15 a.m.
The march begins at 10 a.m. with prayer and a raffle drawings afterward. The march will be at the Carl Levin Park, 400 Miller’s Crossing in Harker Heights.
Entry is $2 or bring a decorated poster of Jesus. Any donations and funds raised from the $10 shirts will go to the Jesus Hope and Love Mission in Killeen.
The public is welcome to attend. There will be trailers available for anyone who cannot walk.

K of C to conduct Knight at the Races
Knights of Columbus, St. Andrew Kim Council 9930 is conducting the eighth annual A Knight at the Races on April 29 at St. Paul Chong Hasang Parish Center, 2412 Stilllhouse Drive in Harker Heights.
The event is open to the public. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the first race starts at 6:45 p.m. Horses must be purchased before the event for $30 each by calling 254-698-1770 or from members of the council.
Buying a horse provides you $100 in play money. You don’t have to buy a horse to attend, but you can pay an entry fee of $10 that provides you $50 in play money. Winnings of play money are used to bid on silent auction items at the completion of races.
