The Adams Chapel, Harper-Braggs Missionary Society is having a spaghetti cook-off at 5 p.m. today at Adams Chapel A.M.E. Church, 125 E. Arlo, Harker Heights.

St. Christopher’s plans Oktoberfest celebration

Oktoberfest at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church starts at 6 p.m. today with an evening of music, dancing, fun, food and prizes.

Everyone will have a chance to bid on a variety of items in the silent auction.

Proceeds support various local charitable groups that provide assistance to those in need, including (but not limited to) the Killeen Food Care Center, Mission Soup Kitchen and Christian Assistance Network.

Admission is free.

Monthly Ultreya set for Sunday

The Diocese of Austin English Cursillo will have its monthly Fort Hood Area Ultreya from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the old parish hall of St. Paul Chong Hasang Catholic Church.

First UMC-Killeen opens Pumpkin Patch

The annual Pumpkin Patch is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, and from 12:30 to 7 p.m. Sundays at First United Methodist Church in Killeen.

The Pumpkin Patch is open for day care trips from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Oct. 11, 18 and 25.

Cost is $2.50 per child and includes story time, hay ride and a small pumpkin.

Community Bible study class meets weekly

The Temple-Belton Community Bible Study adult co-ed class will have an introductory session at 7:30 p.m. Monday for the current study of Romans.

The class meets weekly in the small sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Belton at Sixth and Main streets from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

Visitors are welcome to attend the session and register for the 30-week in-depth interdenominational study.

The class is open to all adults. Individuals may choose to participate in core groups for young adults, men, women or married couples.

Each week, participants receive a reading commentary on the previous week’s topic and a set of questions to work on each day covering the next week’s reading.

On Monday nights, these questions will be discussed in small groups. Following the small groups, there is a short teaching over the same section of Scripture.

The class will break for Christmas and spring vacation and will finish in April 2014.

Aglow International to meet Tuesday

Aglow International will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Suite C of the KPLE-TV building, 502 Elms Road, Killeen.

This is an interdenominational meeting; all are welcome. Refreshments will be served.

Praise will be led by Praise Fellowship, and the speaker this month is Vivian Tillotson.

Group meets to make quilts for veterans

Quilting to Honor and Comfort Our Wounded, Service Members and Veterans is held at First United Methodist Church in Killeen.

Quilters with a Heart meets from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of every month and from 6 to 8 p.m. the fourth Thursday of each month.

Quilters meet to make Quilts of Valor for service members and veterans.

Bring a sack lunch on Tuesdays. Be prepared to learn about and sew Quilts of Valor at 3501 E. Elms Road, Killeen.

Healing rooms open Oct. 12 in KPLE-TV building

The Killeen Healing Rooms will be open from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Oct. 12 in the KPLE-TV building, 502 E. Elms Road in Killeen.

The group’s commission is based on Mark 16:17-18, “And these signs shall follow those that believe...they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”

Prayer teams will be available to petition for healing in the Name of Jesus Christ.

First UMC-Killeen to host Fall Carnival

A Fall Carnival is scheduled at First United Methodist Church from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 12 at 3501 E. Elms Road in Killeen.

The carnival will feature hay rides, food, games, bouncers, pony rides, petting zoo, rock-wall and more.

Greater Peace to honor pastor, wife for service

The Greater Peace Missionary Baptist Church family will celebrate appreciation services for Pastor J.A. Moland and Sister Felicia Moland on Oct. 13.

Holy Family ladies to host dinner, dance

The Holy Family Ladies Society will host a Country-Western Dinner and Dance from 7 to 11 p.m. Oct. 26 in the Social Hall, 1001 Georgetown Road, Copperas Cove.

Proceeds from this event will support charitable works.

Tickets are $15 per person and will be on sale at the Holy Family Church office until Oct. 21.

‘Women with Power’ revival planned

Praise and Deliverance House of Prayer will host its annual citywide “Women with Power” revival Oct. 23-25 in downtown Killeen.

The theme is Power of Prayer. Acts 12:5.

Revival begins at 7 p.m., daily.

The revivalist will be Evangelist Gloria Cunningham of Beth El House of Prayer For All Nations from Houston.

Special music will be rendered by various churches throughout the surrounding area.

Woman of Immanuel to host Fall Bazaar

The Women of Immanuel will have a Fall Bazaar from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 26.

There will be a sweet shop to purchase home-baked items for the sweet tooth; hand crafts will be available for gift giving.

Lunch will be served from noon to 2 p.m.

A “Texas Cabin” king-size quilt will be given away at 4 p.m.

Free and safe trick-or-treating, Trunk or Treat, at First United Methodist Church is from 5 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 27 at 3501 E. Elms Road.

Marriage enrichment course offered

A free veterans and military marriage enrichment course is from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Patriot Retreat Center, 10208 Cedar Knob Church Road, Salado.

The program is guided by a veteran married couple in a safe, relaxed, fun atmosphere.

Engaged couples are welcome and get $60 off a Texas marriage license.

First Baptist-Killeen planning road trip

First Baptist Church Killeen is sponsoring a road trip to see the staged production of Waxahachie’s Heaven’s Front Porch/Old- Fashioned Singing at 3 p.m. Nov. 2.

A bus will leave the church at noon and return by 9 p.m. the same day.

The cost is $20 which includes the ticket price and transportation.

The bus will stop on the way back to Killeen for dinner (dutch treat).

First Baptist-Killeen to host Trunk or Treat

First Baptist Church- Killeen will host its annual Trunk or Treat celebration from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.

This event is an alternative Oct. 31 activity for children and adults.

There is no charge for this event, and everyone is welcome.

The fun includes bounce houses, face painting, a photo booth and many other activities.

Satterfield to speak at Awakening Revival

Mike Satterfield is the featured speaker at the Awakening Revival which begins at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 2 at First Baptist Church-Killeen.

Satterfield is a gifted evangelist, Christian teacher and the founder of Field of Grace Ministries.

He will also be a guest speaker at the 9:45 and 11 a.m., and 6 p.m. worship services on Nov. 3.

St. Joseph’s Fest of All event set for Sunday

The Fest of All celebration at St. Joseph Catholic Church is Sunday at 2903 E. Rancier Ave., Killeen.

The event will feature entertainment by Dancing Cultura Filipiniana, Estrellas de Panama, Ballet Folklorico Alegria and music with DJ Tony Sandate.

Also featured will be McGruff, the Killeen Fire Department, food vendors, Filipino food, Mexican food, Puerto Rican food, an American food booth, funnel cakes, a coffee shop and a cake walk.

Temple of Faith Apostolic Ministries’ Women’s Department will host its fourth annual Women of Divine Faith conference, Oct. 24-26.
