Church planning mission to Honduras

St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church is conducting a medical mission to Honduras July 17-24.

An informational meeting begins at noon Sunday at the church. Help is needed.

Donations such as chewable vitamins, first-aid kits, toothbrushes and toothpaste may be dropped off at the church, 2800 Trimmier Road, Killeen.

Youth group taking part in Souper Bowl

First Presbyterian Church ordained and installed Samatha Mason and installed Peggy Hartley and Mike Summers to the church’s governing council.

Sunday, the youth group will take a collection of cash or canned goods to celebrate Souper Bowl on Sunday. Proceeds go to the Killeen Food Care Center.

Lake Victor names interim pastor

George S. Kelly was called as interim pastor of Lake Victor Baptist Church.

Kelly is a graduate of William Carey College in Hattiesburg, Miss., and the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in New Orleans, La.

Kelly pastored churches in Mississippi, Georgia, West Virginia and Ohio, where he retired in 1987.

He joined the Civil Air Patrol as a chaplain in 1990 and currently serves as the deputy Texas wing chaplain, U.S. Air Force Auxiliary, Civil Air Patrol, and holds the rank of lieutenant colonel.

A Korean War veteran, Kelly retired from the Ohio Army National Guard in 1989.

The worship service is at 11 a.m. Sunday. The public is invited.

The church is at 3030 Farm-to-Market 2340, about 12 miles south of Lampasas off U.S. Highway 281.

UT-A choir to present concert Monday

A Winter Choral Concert, featuring the University of Texas-Arlington A Cappella Choir, begins at 7 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Killeen.

Conductor Karen Kenaston-French, along with faculty soloists David Grogan, Soo Hong Kim and Jing Ling-Tam, will present Benjamin Britten’s “Five Flower Songs,” the Sanctus from Frank Martin’s “Mass for Double Chorus,” an excerpt from Rachmaninoff’s “Vespers,” Moses Hogan’s rendition of “Elijah Rock,” Swider’s “Cantus Gloriosus,” and various motets and spirituals.

The public is invited, and admission is free. The church is at 3501 E. Elms Road in Killeen.

Hope Pregnancy to host time of prayer

The monthly citywide time of prayer to petition the Lord on behalf of the unborn in the spirit of biblical unity is from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hope Pregnancy Center in Killeen.

The facility is in Southpointe Center directly south of the Copper Mountain post office on W.S. Young Drive in suite 301-C.

Prayer luncheon set for East Side Baptist

The Killeen Christian Ministers Fellowship monthly prayer luncheon starts at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at East Side Baptist Church, 500 N. W.S. Young Drive.

All pastors, ministers and chaplains in the area are invited.

Senior pastors who are unable to attend are encouraged to send a representative.

A complimentary lunch will be provided.

The Killeen Christian Ministers Fellowship is an informal organization whose goal is to strengthen relationships among the spiritual leaders of the community. There are no dues or fees, and membership is open to all pastors, ministers and chaplains in the local area.

The group meets on the first Tuesday of each month for fellowship and prayer.

Bible study at First Baptist Church

Beth Moore’s Bible study called “Stepping Up” begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church-Killeen, 3310 S. W.S. Young Drive.

This seven-week study is scheduled to accommodate working women.

It will be repeated each Sunday at 4:45 p.m. beginning Feb. 10.

Prayer teams available Feb. 9

The Killeen Healing Rooms will have prayer teams available from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Feb. 9 in the KPLE-TV building at 502 E. Elms Road in Killeen.

Prayer teams will be available to pray for healing in the name of Jesus Christ.

A clothes give-away, Taking It To The Street, is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. the second Saturday of each month at Knowledge Is Power Ministries.

Recovery support series starts Feb. 10

Grief Recovery is a method for working through loss and devastating changes.

First Baptist Church-Killeen begins the series with an overview and signup meeting at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 10.

There will be 13 weekly meetings, beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 17.

Day of prayer planning session set

A new worship service begins at 5 p.m. the third Saturday of the month. This service is open to all and is geared to those from 18 to 30 years old.

New worship service begins in March

Beginning in March on the second Saturday of the month at 5 p.m., a new worship service will start for members of the community.

“Companionate Worship” is for those in the community who are unable to attend a regular service due to medical reasons, handicapped, disability, etc.

This will be a service where loved ones can bring their relative and they don’t have to worry about how they look, walk, communicate, etc.

Companionate Worship is open to everyone.
