Cove church Fall Festival set today

Immanuel Lutheran Church of Copperas Cove’s Fall Festival is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today.

All families in the community are invited.

Free hot dogs, drinks and snacks will be served.

Activities include crafts, games, scavenger hunts, hayrides and a petting zoo.

Immanuel Lutheran publishes cookbook

Immanuel Lutheran Church of Copperas Cove published a cookbook of 401 “tried and true” traditional recipes for cooks or collectors.

The cookbook is $15 and will be available today at the Fall Festival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today.

Killeen Healing Rooms open today

The Killeen Healing Rooms will be open from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. today.

Our commission is based on Mark 16:17-18, “And these signs shall follow those that believe...they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”

Prayer teams will be available to see you visitors healed in the name of Jesus Christ.

The healing rooms are in the KPLE-TV building at 502 E. Elms Road in Killeen.

TV station to sponsor sewing classes

KPLE-TV will sponsor sewing classes from 9 to 11 a.m. Mondays, making bibs for nursing homes and homebound students in its viewing area.

Cotton and flannel fabric donations will be accepted.

Catherine Mason, coordinator, will have precut fabric ready to sew.

Participants must bring their own workable sewing machine.

Beginning classes will be limited.

Open Arms Outreach to hold clothes closet

Open Arms Outreach will hold its monthly clothes closet and food pantry beginning at 9 a.m. Nov. 17 at the ministry’s outreach center, 409 Eighth St., Killeen.

In addition to the free food and clothing giveaway, breakfast foods will be served at no charge.

This ministry serves the community by providing emergency food, clothing, toiletry items, and financial assistance and counseling.

It also operates an adult literacy program and offers free educational tutoring for school-age children.

The free food pantry and clothes closet are part of a community outreach program held on the third Saturday of each month.

The People’s Choice Worship Center will show “The Encounter” at 7 p.m. Nov. 17.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. Requested donation is $5 for adults and $2 for children (12 and under).

A community Thanksgiving service will be offered at 6 p.m. Nov. 18 at the Harker Heights United Methodist Church, corner of Cardinal Lane and Harley Drive.

The Rev. David Starkey of the First Assembly of God will deliver the sermon.

Unity event planned for today at park

Unity in the Community is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Conder Park, under the Skateboard Pavilion, Killeen.

The annual event will feature many ministries coming together in worship and prayer celebrating the Unity of Nations in the body of Christ.

There will be music, dancing, singing, food and more.

In addition to honoring all war veterans, there also will be a winter coat giveaway.

Hospice to hold annual tribute

New Century Hospice of Central Texas will hold its annual Night of Remembrance and Celebration at 7 p.m. Nov. 13 at New Beginnings Church.

The ceremony is held annually in conjunction with Hospice Awareness Month and is a tribute to community and hospice family members who have died recently or in years past.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a photo or item of remembrance to be displayed during the service.
