Church hosting blood drive today

Iglesia Christiana Monte Sinai hosts a blood drive from 8 a.m. to noon today at 701 E. Stan Schlueter Loop in the church’s reception and waiting room.

Potential blood donors can volunteer beginning at age 16 with a parent’s consent, and 17-year-olds can give independently. There is no upper age limit for giving.

All donors must weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good general health and present a photo ID each time they donate.

It’s also a good idea to eat a nutritious meal and drink plenty of water before giving blood.

Spring Fling today at St. Andrews UMC

St. Andrews United Methodist Church will have its Spring Fling from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. today.

There will be a live auction including a handmade hope chest, an antique tea service, a keyboard and more. Crafts include jewelry, wreaths and handmade items.

A wide variety of baked goods will be offered.

Silent auction items include Star Trek/Star Wars collectibles, crystal and electronics.

Games, a bounce house and face painting will be available for children.

The garage sale area will offer furniture, toys, white elephant items, electronics, books, plants and more.

Some vendors will sell handmade items.

The church is at the corner of Florence and Fowler roads in Killeen.

Women invited to prayer event today

Ladies in Prayer Stations is from 9 to 10 a.m. today at Truth and Deliverance Ministries.

Breakfast will be served.

All ladies are invited to join in prayer.

Bible Way mission groups meet today

Mission Auxiliaries of Bible Way Missionary Baptist Church will have a workshop at 9:15 a.m. today.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.

Guest speaker is Evelyn Jordan of Waco.

Lunch will be served after the workshop.

The Annual Day Celebration will be conducted during Sunday’s 11 a.m. worship service.

Mission sisters in the area are invited.

New Sunset to do odd jobs for residents

New Sunset Community Church is going out into the neighborhood from 9 a.m. to noon today to serve people.

They will be doing odd jobs, including yardwork and placing street addresses on the curbs of houses.

Pastor Sapp, wife marking anniversary

An anniversary celebration for Pastor Ernest and Mamie Sapp continues at 6 p.m. today and 5 p.m. Sunday at Worship in the Word Ministries.

Monthly Ultreya set for Sunday

Prayer event at Hope Pregnancy Center

The monthly citywide time of prayer is from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hope Pregnancy Center in Southpointe Center, directly south of the Copper Mountain Post Office on W.S. Young Drive, suite 301-C.

Prayers will petition the Lord on behalf of the unborn in the spirit of biblical unity.

Ministers’ prayer luncheon Tuesday

The Killeen Christian Ministers Fellowship monthly prayer luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at East Side Baptist Church, 500 N. W.S. Young Drive.

All pastors, ministers and chaplains in the Killeen and Fort Hood area are invited. Senior pastors who are unable to attend are urged to send a representative.

A complimentary lunch will be provided.

The fellowship is an informal organization whose goal is to strengthen relationships among the spiritual leaders of the community.

There are no dues or fees, and membership is open to all pastors, ministers and chaplains in the area.

Church service to celebrate Ascension

St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church celebrates the Ascension of our Lord with a service of music and Holy Communion at 6 p.m. Thursday.

After the service, everyone is invited to fellowship and make their own ice cream sundae.

Pancake brunch planned May 11

The Christian Men’s Fellowship of the Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will have its annual Pancake Brunch from 9 a.m. to noon May 11 in the Fellowship Hall adjacent to the church at 1301 Trimmier Road in Killeen.

All-you-can-eat pancake brunch is $4 per person. Children younger than 12 eat free.

All proceeds from the brunch will be distributed to local charities.

Church to host ‘It’s A Family Affair’

Temple of Faith Apostolic Ministries will host “It’s A Family Affair” on May 16-17 at 808 N. Eighth St. in Killeen.

Services begin at 7 p.m. nightly. Elder Mark E. Kirkland is the pastor.

Guest preacher is Suffragan Bishop Leon Parker, pastor of Zion Apostolic Temple in Dallas.

Between 1995 and 1999 Parker was elevated to district elder and added two churches to his ministry: Zion Temple of Tyler and Mount Calvary of Corsicana.

In July 2002, Parker was elevated to suffragan bishop.

He has served as chaplain of the Texas State Council, president of the Texas State Council Young People’s Auxiliary, president of Texas State Council Men’s Ministry, assistant treasurer of the Texas State Council, and he is currently the assistant council chairman of the Texas State Council.

Central Texas churches affiliated with the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World and the community are invited to attend.

Wellness fair, blood drive today

A Wellness Fair and Blood Drive are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at Adams Chapel AME Church.

Hot dogs and refreshments will be offered. Face painting with a jump and slide bouncer will be available for children.

Last will and testament, pre-burial planning and term life vs. whole life insurance will be discussed by various speakers from 1 to 3 p.m.

The Scott & White Blood Mobile will be on-site. Blood donors will receive a free T-shirt, a coupon for a free half-dozen Shipley doughnuts and a chance to win two tickets to Six Flags Over Texas.

Blood donors must be at least 17 and weigh at least 110 pounds. Each donor must present a photo ID.

The public is invited. The church is at 125 Arlo Road, Harker Heights.
