Project Angel Tree accepting donations
Project Angel Tree, a program that provides gifts to children with notes from their incarcerated parents, is in full swing.
Founded by Mary Kay Beard and Chuck Cholson in 1992, the Belton J.A.I.L Ministry has served more than 500,000 children since 1982. The J.A.I.L. Ministry heads the Angel Tree program.
KPLE-TV has supported Angel Tree for more than 20 years with help from the local community. Thanks to local businesses, churches and organizations that sponsor the children, the station is able to provide gifts to an average of 800 to 1,200 children yearly. All gifts go to children in the local community.
Donations of new, unwrapped toys of all ages and wrapping supplies are accepted at KPLE-TV, 502 E. Elms Road, Suite D, in Killeen.
Any monetary donation can be mailed to KPLE-TV, P. O. Box 11031, Killeen TX 76547 with a note for Angel Tree.
In December, volunteers are needed to deliver gifts to families.
