Cove church to host men’s prayer breakfast

The Copperas Cove Community Wide Men’s Prayer Breakfast will be at 7:30 a.m. today at North Pointe Church at 1115 N. Main St. in Copperas Cove.

All men and their sons are welcome to attend and share in the breakfast prepared by the men of the church and participate in the prayers for the community, state and nation.

Church hands out food every Monday morning

Five Hills Assembly of God Church gives out produce and other food items every Monday from 10:30 to 11 a.m.

A hot lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the Five Loaves and Two Fishes Outreach building.

Meals are provided for everyone in need, and they will receive a bag of groceries to take home.

Fort Hood to host day of prayer, fellowship

The Greater Fort Hood Day of Prayer and Fellowship will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Spiritual Fitness Center Chapel at 33rd & Battalion at Fort Hood.

A complimentary breakfast will be provided at 8:30 and lunch at noon.

The theme is “The believer will draw near to God and believe the promise He will draw near to the believer.” (James 4:8)

Killeen Healing Rooms are open Tuesday

The Killeen Healing Rooms will be open from 6:45 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the KPLE-TV building at 502 E. Elms Road in Killeen.

The group’s commission is based on Mark 16:17-18, “And these signs shall follow those that believe ... they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”

Church group sponsoring free-throw contest

St. Andrew Kim Council No. 9930 Knights of Columbus in Harker Heights is sponsoring a children’s free-throw championship for kids ages 9 to 14 years of age.

The competition is Feb. 4 at the Harker Heights Recreation Center, 307 Miller’s Crossing in Harker Heights.

Registration is from 12:30 to 1 p.m., and the event is 1 to 5:30 p.m.

Winners will progress through local, district and state competitions. International champions are announced by the K of C international headquarters. Last year, more than 120,000 sharpshooters participated in over 3,600 local competitions, Proof of age with a birth certificate and written parental consent is required. Church group to cater Valentine’s Dinner

The Pidcoke United Methodist Church Men’s Group will cater a Valentine’s Dinner on Feb. 12 in the Fellowship Hall.

Church group to host Mardi Gras celebration

Knights of Columbus, Thomas P. Shields Assembly 2370, will have a Mardi Gras Dinner and Celebration at 6 p.m. Feb. 18 at the St. Paul Chong Hasang Parish Center, 2412 Stillhouse Lake Road in Harker Heights (next to the church).

The menu includes sausage and chicken gumbo, cajun baked chicken, fried catfish, etouffe sauce, 3 bean salad, cornbread mini muffins, fried okra, king cake, beer, wine, coffee, tea, and lemonade.

A live band and dancing. There will be prizes for the best costume. Cost: $25 per person, $45 per couple, or $175 for a table of eight. Order tickets at 254-291-6799.

Cove church group plans soup, chili, dessert lunch

The Ladies Aid of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Copperas Cove will host their annual soup, chili and dessert lunch Sunday.

Everyone is invited to come and attend the 10:30 a.m. morning service and to stay following the church service to enjoy the soup and chili lunch.

The cost is a free-will offering that will benefit the church’s mission projects that include the Cove House, the Hope Pregnancy Center and the Brazilian Mission Project.

Adult Bible class studies Book of Isaiah weekly

The Temple-Belton Community Bible Study adult co-ed evening class continues its current study of the book of Isaiah on Mondays at 7:30 p.m. in the small sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Belton at Sixth and Main streets.

The class is open to all adults. Individuals may choose to participate in core groups for men, women or married couples.

Each week participants will receive a reading commentary on the previous week’s topic and a set of questions to work on each day covering the next week’s reading.

On Monday nights, these questions will be discussed in small groups.

Following the small groups, there is a short teaching over the same section of Scripture. The class will break for spring vacation and will conclude May 1.
