Second Street Baptist Church in Killeen offers a free breakfast to the public every second Saturday of the month at the Moss Rose Community Center, 1103 E. Avenue E, Killeen.

Cove church will serve a hot lunch today

Five Hills Assembly of God will serve a hot lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the Five Loaves and Two Fishes Outreach building.

Meals are provided for anyone in need, and they will receive a bag of groceries to take home.

Second Street Baptist Church hosts Faith and Recovery Group meetings for alcoholism every Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

The group’s motto is: “Faith is my recovery and Recovery is my faith.”

Baptist leader to visit Heights church Sunday

Dr. David Hardage, executive director of the Texas Baptist General Convention, will be the guest speaker at First Baptist Church of Harker Heights at 11 a.m. Sunday.

Cove church to host MLK observance

The Copperas Cove MLK Commemoration Comittee will sponsor its 19th annual MLK Observance and Unity Walk on Monday.

The walk starts at 1 p.m. at the Step Child Care Center, 1402 S. Farm-to-Market 116, Copperas Cove.

After the walk, an observance will take place at Bible Way Missionary Baptist Church, 2306 FM 116, Copperas Cove.

Kileen Healing Rooms plan training day

The Killeen Healing Rooms is sponsoring a one-day “Heal The Sick” training day on Jan. 21, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the KPLE-TV building at 502 E. Elms Road (suite C) in Killeen.

Participants will study what the New Testament teaches about healing through the life and teachings of Jesus.

Bible group studying Book of Isaiah

The Temple-Belton Community Bible Study adult co-ed evening class has resumed its current study of the Book of Isaiah on Mondays at 7:30 p.m. in the small sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Belton at Sixth and Main streets.

An introductory session will be held Monday for anyone interested in learning more about CBS and for registering for the in-depth interdenominational study.

The class is open to all adults. Individuals may choose to participate in core groups for men, women or married couples.

Each week participants will receive a reading commentary on the previous week’s topic and a set of questions to work on each day covering the next week’s reading.

On Monday nights, these questions will be discussed in small groups.

Following the small groups there is a short teaching over the same section of Scripture. The class will break for spring vacation and will conclude May 1.

Cove church to host men’s prayer breakfast

The Copperas Cove Community Wide Men’s Prayer Breakfast will be at 7:30 a.m. Jan. 28 at North Pointe Church, 1115 N. Main St., in Copperas Cove.

All men and their sons are welcome to attend and share in the breakfast prepared by the men of the church and participate in the prayers for our community, state and nation.

Church group schedules children’s competition

St. Andrew Kim Council No. 9930 Knights of Columbus in Harker Heights is sponsoring a children’s free-throw championship for children 9 to 14 years old.

The competition is Feb. 4 at the Harker Heights Recreation Center, 307 Miller’s Crossing in Harker Heights.

Registration is from 12:30 to 1 p.m., and the event is 1 to 5:30 p.m. Winners will progress through local, district and state competitions.

International champions are announced by the K of C international headquarters.

Proof of age with a birth certificate and written parental consent are required.

Men’s group to cater valentine’s dinner

The Pidcoke United Methodist Church Men’s Group will cater a valentine’s dinner on Feb. 12 in the Fellowship Hall.
