Blood drive today at KPLE-TV

Boots & Badges Blood Drive is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at KPLE-TV and held under the auspices of Scott & White Healthcare Blood Center.

All June donors will receive: a free donor T-shirt, coupon for a free appetizer with the purchase of an entree at participating Texas Roadhouse locations and a chance to win four tickets to a Round Rock Express baseball game.

Give back by donating a stuffed animal for the children of crimes or fires. The stuffed animals help comfort them.

Ministry offers free food pantry today

Open Arms Outreach begins its free monthly food pantry begins at 9 a.m. today. The ministry’s outreach center is at 409 Eighth St. in Killeen. In addition to the free food giveaway, breakfast burritos will be served at no charge.

The food pantry will remain open today as long as the food lasts.

The free food pantry is part of a community outreach program held on the third Saturday of each month.

A free clothes giveaway is from 8 a.m. to noon today at The Guiding Light Ministries.

The public is invited.

Cross Road church dedication Sunday

A new church dedication and opening of Cross Road Missionary Baptist Church begins at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Founding pastor is the Rev. Vincent N. Gillard Sr. His wife is Beytza Gillard. Bishop David L. Jackson of Bountiful Blessing Ministry and Pastor Wesley Pope of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church will lead the celebration in worship.

Relationships seminar Sunday

A seminar on strategies to improve relationships through the use of biblical principles begins at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Harker Heights Community Church.

The public is invited to attend and ask questions.

Church of Christ hosting lectures

“Assaults on the Christian Family” begins at 7 p.m. Friday at the Killeen Church of Christ.

Guest speaker is Brad Harrub, who has a doctorate in anatomy and neurobiology.

The lecture continues at 6:30 p.m. June 22 with “Marriage Takes Three” and at 7:30 p.m. with “Leaving a True Legacy.”

Friday and Saturday lectures are followed by a question-and-answer session.

“Alone On An Island” Bible class begins at 9:30 a.m. June 23. “Are You Convicted?” worship service starts at 10:30 a.m.

Some of the questions the lecture will attempt to answer are: Why is Christianity being discriminated against? What is happening to our morals and values? How is the media influencing our children? What is your responsibility as a Christian parent?

The lecture is free and open to all ages.

Annual Clothes Giveaway June 22

The annual Clothes Give-away, sponsored by the Women’s Department of Garden of Gethsemane COGIC, begins at 8 a.m. June 22, weather permitting.

Free refreshments will be offered at the event.

Women’s conference set for June 22

The 2013 Women of Empowerment Conference begins June 22 with workshops from 9 to 10:15 a.m. at Bountiful Blessing Full Gospel Ministry. The theme is “Women Walking Together in Victory.” I John 5:4.

A fish fry begins at 10 a.m. June 29 at Second Street Baptist Church.

Catfish, coleslaw, pinto beans, potato salad, with bread or hushpuppies and a soda served for $7.

Single filet is $2. Fish sandwich with soda is $4. Sodas are 50 cents each.

Seminar focuses on self-esteem

“I’m Worth It” seminar is from noon to 2 p.m. June 29 at the Killeen Community Center, 2201 E. Veterans Memorial Blvd.

The seminar, for ages 18 and older, is free.

The subject will be about self-worth, self-esteem and self-love.

The seminar is designed to help and encourage those that are suffering from low self-esteem and the damaging effects it can have.

The annual men’s community-wide prayer breakfast is June 29 at Hillside Ministries.

Breakfast, prepared by men of the church, will be served at 7:30 a.m. Prayer points begin at 8 a.m., promptly ending at 9 a.m.

All men and their boys are invited to come and participate in making a prayerful difference in their relationships, and in their city, state and nation.

Mexican Consulate sending team

St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church hosts the Mexican Consulate on July 13 at 2800 Trimmier Road in Killeen.

The Mexican Consulate is bringing a team to provide consular services to Mexican citizens in the area, and can serve between 200 and 300 clients that day.

The consulate will be in the Parish Hall at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 13. Appointments are required, and reservations may be made now by calling the Austin Consulate at (877) 639-4835.

St. Christopher’s seeking principal

The pre-school at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Killeen is seeking a new principal to begin the position by Aug. 1. The pre-school operates three days a week and serves up to 84 children.

‘Echoes From God’ author to sign books

Praise in the Streets features games, food

The Temple of Faith Apostolic Ministries will host its first Praise in the Streets from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at 808 N. Eighth St. in Killeen.

The event will feature a variety of games, food, singing, and a host of fun and fellowship.

All area residents are invited to attend this event with a day of fun with family, friends and Temple of Faith’s church family.

Ministry to host Father’s Day dinner

The Rivers of Living Waters Ministry will host a Father’s Day dinner from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Bishop’s Place.

Dinner consists of a choice of smoked chicken or smoked brisket, with two sides. Each plate is $7 per adult and $3 per child (10 and under).

African Children’s Choir to perform

African Children’s Choir performances are scheduled for 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday at Community Fellowship Church of the Nazarene, 2001 N. Valley Mills Drive, Waco.

A free-will offering will be taken at the performance to support the African Children’s Choir programs, such as education, care, and relief and development programs.
