Belton church to celebrate 168 years

The Rev. H.E. Jackson Jr., officers and members of Mount Zion United Methodist Church of Belton will be celebrating 168 years “in Loving God, Our Neighbors and Our Church,” beginning this weekend.

First Baptist Church, NBC Inc,. of Waco, along with several recording gospel artists will join the Rev. Dr. George Harrison as the guest church.

Celebration begins at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at 218 Alexander St., Belton.

Operation Bull Thunder set Dec. 1

5 Hills Cowboy Church presents Operation Bull Thunder at 3 p.m. Dec. 1 at 139 County Road 4630, Kempner.

Admission is $10 at the gate; children age 12 and younger will be admitted free.

The event at the arena features 30 Header, 8-Short go, Mutton Bustin’ with $1,500 added.

A concession stand will be open, and door prizes from local businesses will be awarded.

There is also a drawing for an AR-15 rifle.

The event is being put on in conjunction with Broken G Cattle Co. and Centex Chapter 1876, Order of the Purple Heart.

Killeen church to re-enact Jesus’ birth

“A Walk Through Bethlehem” re-enactment of the time of Jesus’ birth, will take place from 5 to 7 p.m., Dec. 1-2 at First United Methodist Church in Killeen.

In case of inclement weather, the walk will move to Dec. 8 and 9 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Choir, orchestra set to perform two concerts

Central Texas Master Singers Choir and Orchestra will perform two fully orchestrated Christmas concerts Dec. 3 at LifeWay Fellowship in Killeen, 4001 E. Elms Road in Killeen, and Dec. 4 at First Baptist Church, 506 S. Main St., Belton.

Both performances are scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.

Advance tickets are $20 per person or $25 at the door.

Heights church to sponsor annual dinner

The Garden of Gethsemane COGIC in Harker Heights is sponsoring the 30th annual Pastors’ and Ministers Wives’ Christmas dinner in the home of Superintendent Willie D. and Missionary Florence Grove.

Every year, the clergy and wives come together and fellowship with each other during this beautiful season because Jesus is the reason for the season.

The annual Christmas dinner begins with prayer. After dinner, there will be songs. Guests will enjoy listening to Christmas music and a gift exchange.

The dinner begins at 8 p.m. Dec. 3.

Monthly Gospel Jamboree set Dec. 8

Monthly Gospel Music Jamboree will be held at Robertson Avenue Baptist Church from noon to 6 p.m. Dec. 8.

Area residents are invited to stay a while or all day. Anyone who plays an instrument or sing and wants to participate is asked to call Tommy Clark at (254) 289-9549.

Second Street church to mark anniversary

Second Street Baptist Church is having its 16th Pastor and Family Anniversary Service at 4 p.m. Dec. 2.

Guest speaker is Pastor Forbes of Robinson Chapel AME Church in McGregor.

First Baptist-Killeen hosting events

First Baptist Church Killeen is hosting the Killeen Area Singles Association presentation of Brent Gambrell’s Crave Conference, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.

Cost is $15 for both days or $10 for one day.

The Adult Choir and Orchestra of First Baptist Church Killeen will present the Christmas Cantata And On Earth Peace at 6 p.m. Dec. 16.

There is no cost, but a freewill offering will be taken.

Free marriage workshop set Dec. 1

A marriage workshop, “Real Talk,” is Dec. 1 at Knowledge Is Power Ministries.

Real issues, problems and situations will be discussed. Workshop is limited to 35 couples.

Clear Creek Baptist schedules bazaar

Clear Creek Baptist Church will have its annual Christmas Bazaar from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 15.

Available will be homemade baked goods, hand-crafted jewelry, woodwork, home décor, and other arts and crafts plus door prizes.

This is an excellent opportunity to find handmade and unique Christmas gifts.

Ensemble searching for new members

The A.J. Reed Gospel Ensemble is recruiting new members.

The group meets at 7 p.m. the first and third Thursday of the month at Adams Chapel AME Church, 120 Arlo, Harker Heights.

Sisters of Zion Conference is May 1-5.

Theme is “Women Grabbing a Hold of the Law of Confession.”
