Harrub continuing creation lecture series

Brad Harrub, co-editor of Think magazine, will continue his creation/evolution lecture at 6:30 p.m. today and 10 a.m. Sunday at Killeen Church of Christ.

Lectures are free and open to all ages.

Harrub, the co-founder of Focus Press, earned a doctorate in anatomy and neurobiology. He is the author of the book “Convicted: A Scientist Examines the Evidence for Christianity and Dissecting the Truth.”

Men’s club hosting barbecue; public invited

The men’s club barbecue, open to the public, kicks off at 5 p.m. today at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Copperas Cove.

Brisket, sausage, potato salad, beans, dessert, tea and coffee are $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 5 to 11 and free for children ages 5 and younger.

The church is 2 miles north of Copperas Cove on North First Street, and then two miles west at 922 Lutheran Church Road.

Missionary from Japan to speak June 14-15

A missions campaign will be presented at 7:30 p.m. June 14 and 11:30 a.m. June 15 at 3709 Zephyr Road, Killeen.

Pastor Emilda Miranda, a missionary on Japan for 30 years and spreading the gospel in that nation, is the speaker.

Bibleway COGIC celebrates 32 years in ministry with a two-day program beginning June 20.

Superintendent Gilbert Gillum of Living Word COGIC of Waco is the guest speaker for the 4:30 p.m. service June 22.

June 21 cookout to benefit the homeless

A cookout for the homeless and those in need is from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. June 21 at 818 N. Fourth St., behind H-E-B in downtown Killeen.

There also will be a clothing and household giveaway.

The event will be at Jesus Hope & Love Homeless Mission and supported by West Side Baptist Church of Killeen.

Bible study class registering adults

The Temple-Belton Community Bible Study adult evening class is registering for next year’s 30-week interdenominational study of Luke.

Beginning Sept. 8, the class will meet weekly from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Mondays in the small sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Belton, Sixth and Main streets.

The class is open to all adults interested in an in-depth Bible study.

Individuals may choose to participate in core groups for young adults, men, women or married couples.

Each week, participants receive a reading commentary on the previous week’s topic and a set of questions to work on each day covering the next week’s reading.

These questions are discussed in small groups of about 15.

After the small groups meet, there will be a short teaching over the same section of Scripture.

The class will break for Christmas and spring vacations and finish at the end of April.

Killeen Healing Rooms to open June 14

The Killeen Healing Rooms will be open from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. June 14 in the KPLE-TV building at 502 E. Elms Road in Killeen.

The group’s commission is based on Mark 16:17-18, “And these signs shall follow those that believe ... they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”

Prayer teams will be available to seek healing in the name of Jesus Christ.
